Chief Executive’s review

These statutory arrangements are unfunded with the cost of benefits met by monies voted by Parliament each year. Pensions payable under existing schemes – Classic, Premium, Classic Plus and Nuvos are currently increased annually in line with the Pensions Increase Legislation. Pension benefits for Executive Directors are provided through the Civil Service Pension Arrangements. Three providing benefits on a final salary basis with a normal pension age of 60; and one providing benefits on a whole career basis with a normal pension age of 65. Executive rewards should rightly acknowledge the professional expertise required to address the challenge of UK nuclear decommissioning, whilst also providing value for taxpayers in a constrained economic climate. On balance, as Accounting Officer, I am therefore confident that the system of internal control operating throughout the past year is effective, and appropriate to meet the NDA’s objectives.
